Descending the SE Ridge of #mteverest back in 2011 after a perfect summit morning. With 27,838’ Makalu looming behind. Lots of planning and good timing goes into a successful day like this. With the new @mtnhub app I have even more tools to help with decisions in the backcountry- shared data across the community and terrain visualization tools to help understand aspect and angles as well. I use it for skiing, running, biking, etc. Plus the maps are awesome. Download the app ( link in my bio) and check out Mt Everest or your own backyard. #tbt #DataForGood #mtnhub

I’ve just come across @maxrivephotography on instagram….if you love mountains like me you have to follow this uber talented photographer….check his feed it’s awesome. His image here takes me back to 2004 when I travelled to Patagonia to attempt Cerro Torre. I got a kicking from the weather, it was a harsh learning experience….but when the weather did clear, WOW what a place!! . #adventure #dreaming #mountains #patagonia . @montblanc @adventurebase @asporteyewear @landrover @teambmc

“@ethan_pringle rappels down the upper pitches of our newly established bigwall rock climb in southeast Greenland. This was around midnight after a massive 4 week effort to get to this point. There is no greater feeling than rapping 2000 feet of vertical granite with your best friends after giving your best and finally succeeding. The weight of relief feels like a feather compared to that of the unknown. Thanks @mikelibecki for bringing us here and @ethan_pringle for gunning us up this thing!” Words and photo by @andy_mann.

Time for another @MtnChicks story! It’s so exciting to hear from those in the community like @mariatormanen. Her story is coming to us all the way from Idaho! Did you know we have a Chapter in Idaho? Yep! And in Arizona, Alaska, California, Hawaii, New York, New England States, Arkansas, the PNW. We’re everywhere□. Our Chapters are run by our amazing group of ambassadors who also take the time to plan events for members of the @MtnChicks community. So hop on over to www.mtnchicks.com and see what we’re up to! . “My name is Maria. I am an RN in the beautiful state of Idaho. Moving west from my home state of Minnesota was not a difficult decision. I had traveled out west before and I was hooked. The mountains can have such a deep impact on a person. I don’t know if it’s the beauty, the size, or the miles and miles of untouched earth. They remind us that the world so large, our day to day life problems are so small. They remind us to be appreciative, to not only be aware of the big picture, but notice the details. And they remind us to love and respect the earth we live on. Being around the mountains has helped me connect with my spirituality, and has been an amazing way to release the stresses of my job. I am so appreciative of this beautiful land and these beautiful mountains we have the opportunity to explore.” —————————————— Upcoming Hikes.
